An essential guide to domains

Choosing the right brand and domain is important when you set up your first White Label Dating site. If you get the domain right, the opportunities for growth, expansion and higher revenue generation are much wider.

When you set up a White Label Dating site, as well as having the opportunity to expand internationally, you can also launch niche dating sites based on characteristics and interests like music genres, hair colour, occupation, religion and location. This will allow you to cross-sell members between the sites to further monetise your traffic.

It's a good idea to consider your future strategy when you set up your first site.

In our essential guide to domains, we'll tell you:

  • Your options
  • How to check for availability and how to purchase your domain
  • Which international domains are available for purchase
  • How to set up your domain

Remember, if you have any questions, get in touch with the partner support team who will be happy to help.

Niche dating domains: your options

White Label Dating has an extensive niching functionality. For a full list of the available niches, click here.

If you’re planning on launching an umbrella brand later down the line, the domain you choose should be at the centre of that. You have two options available when purchasing a domain.

Multiple URLs: The Just Singles group is an example of a successful brand working from multiple URLs like:

Sub-domains: An alternative is to buy one domain and operate niche sites on a sub-domain, such as:

Of course, that’s not to say that you can’t create a standalone niche brand, such as DateAlternative.com – but the above would be a good place to start.

If you are considering creating multiple brands, get in touch with the partner support team who will be more than happy to help you craft your strategy around this.

Checking availability and purchasing your domain

When you've thought about which domains to buy, the next step is to determine whether the domain is available to purchase.

It's advisable to do this as soon as possible, before building an extensive strategy – you don’t want to waste your valuable time if the domain isn’t available.

When your create a site on the White Label Dating platform, you will need to purchase:

  • The domain
  • Hosting for the domain

The following domain registrars are widely used and are recommended places to buy your domains from:

International domains

We operate in seven territories and we would always recommend that you broaden your reach internationally to achieve maximum profitability.

When you have purchased your core domain, it's a good idea to consider purchasing at least three international domains.

Here’s a rundown of international domains for each territory:

  • UK: .co.uk
  • USA: .us
  • Australia: .com.au
  • South Africa: .co.za
  • New Zealand: .co.nz
  • Canada: .ca
  • Ireland: .ie

.com, .net and .co are also very strong domains and can be used across any territory.
