Earlier this year, Twitter announced that anyone could now apply to be verified on Twitter. Adding a blue ‘verified’ tick to your profile is a signal of authenticity of the page and can help add credibility to your to Twitter page, as well as your brand.
Before users sign up to a dating site, an increasing number of people will research the site to find out more about it. If a user comes across an active and verified Twitter page, it will immediately signal that it’s a high quality, trustworthy account. This will improve your brand reputation and encourage users to sign up to your site.
To help you get verified, you must make sure you have the following:
- A verified phone number
- Your Twitter name should reflect your brand name
- Your email address that is linked to the account should be a company email address
- A complete Twitter bio (this should reflect what you do and your brand)
- A profile photo
- A header (your profile photo and header should reflect your site’s branding)
- A link to your site
- Your Tweets must be set as public in your Tweet privacy settings.
When you submit your application to get verified, you’ll be asked to summarise why you should be verified. Twitter are looking for ‘a valid reason’ for why you should be verified so we’d recommend that you explain your brand, your mission and how becoming verified on Twitter will help your brand.
Include additional URLs that prove the relevance of your brand. For this, you could provide a link to your blog or links to any press coverage that will help to prove your relevance within the dating industry.
Once you’re ready to submit your page, follow this link to get verified. Once they’ve reviewed your application, Twitter will contact you via email to let you know whether you’ve been approved or not.
It’s important to remember that there are no guarantees! If your application is unsuccessful you can make the necessary adjustments and re-submit your application after 30 days.
