SEO trends you should know about

Spending time developing your SEO strategy is a crucial part to improving your profitability. We’ve seen partners go from strength to strength after increasing their SEO efforts and they believe that this is now just as important as their paid acquisition. SEO trends are constantly changing to keep in line with technology developments - we never know what changes Google are going to make next!

Enabling SSL

Although Google have been encouraging webmasters, like yourself, to purchase an SSL certificate for many years, it is now crucial that your sites are HTTPS enabled as it now acts as a ranking signal.

If you have not yet purchased an SSL certificate, you will find that your landing page will now have a pop up icon stating that it’s ‘Not Secure’.

If you are working hard at your SEO efforts but have not purchased an SSL certificate, you may be missing out on traffic that have not found your site due to its ad position.

Take advantage of AMP

Almost a couple of years ago, Google announced Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) as a standard for advertisers in response to the growth in mobile. AMP aids pages to load as quickly and efficiently on mobile to improve the user experience, since more people than ever are searching on the go.

Although AMP isn’t a ranking factor for SEO, it does contribute to user experience which we know Google are all about.

AMP allows sites with rich user content such as graphics and animation to load immediately across multiple devices.

It’s important that you include this type of content if you want to increase your ranking. If your site is taking too long to load, it’s likely that your competitors will jump in front of you which will have a negative effect on your conversion and revenue. You can find out more about AMP here.

Top quality content

When users are searching for a dating site, they don’t want to continue reading the same content for each brand but in different words or formats over and over again.

In the past, marketing efforts were focused on producing as much bite-sized content as possible but for the past few years it’s shifted into longer pieces of content that cover a particular topic in depth. Now that we’ve seen both, it’s important that you focus on providing as much information as possible but in a small space.

Users are likely to be busy and have less time in their day so it’s important your site content, blog content and ads cater to this so that your audience want to pause for a moment and continue reading.

This will result in them taking the time to look at what you’re doing that is different to your competitors and therefore click through, sign up and increase your organic ranking.

User experience improvements

User experience has and always will be an important part of SEO. Google will always favour sites that are optimised for mobile, have a fast loading time and that are generally showing that users are satisfied by their experience.

As we’re in such a competitive period for online dating, it’s important that you’re making any improvement you can to show that your experience is better than the next best dating site.
